Underground Horns in a Magazine

Hey bloggers, or whoever could be reading this blog, and in between reading those headline news headlines of the day which can sometimes be consuming, I find myself coming across one of those facebook posts in internetland that says Underground Horns is in a magazine. And I know some good friends Underground Horns are in New York Magazine because that Underground Horns facebook post titled something like “Check out this interview/article on the underground horns in New York Magazine! The article also features many other talented underground artists” says so. And so I find myself reading about Underground Gourmet and Welf Dorr’s Underground Horns in this months New York Magazine on this day. And Underground Horns will be playing at Nublu, that cool and beyond club and bar in that seemingly trendy of a neighborhood of the Lower East Side now called the East Village for real estate marketing purposes maybe to be found in that city of New York, on Mardi Gras day, March 8th, 11pm if you happen to be in the neighborhood. And Nublu Mardi Gras Rocks. Have a great music and more day.

A 2011 NYC Winter Jazzfest

And even when it seems as if the world could be going to hell in a hand basket, and the headlines of the day read something like TSA chief: Resisting scanners just means delays, ‘SNL’ takes on TSA: Parody over protest, as in those Transportation Security Administration body scanner things suck at those airports to be found on planet earth for the Thanksgiving day holiday travel and beyond. I still find myself blah blogging away on this blagh for some reason. And that 2011 New York Winter Jazzfest is happening in that city of New York again this year, I mean next year. And I know that 7th annual Winter Jazz Festival is happening again next year because some friends who are playing there says so. And I find myself blogging about music events and more on this blog every so often because hey, it’s less writing sometimes, I think. A Host Of Events

And this seems to be another one of those days where I just want to post that Ode To Blogging post in my attempt to get rich internet quick blogaholicness, to where that Google page rank update wants to send me in search of a fifth full time job. And yet this post happens to be about a Nublu Jazz Festival and a Hoboken Artists Studio Tour. And what else is there to say about that 30th Annual Hoboken Artists Studio Tour to be found in another one of those trendy of a neighborhoods in that city of Hoboken that is to be found in that state of New Jersey that has not been said thirty times already, I am not sure, except that this Hoboken Artists Studio Tour rocks. An NYC Village Halloween Parade

Oh boy, it’s that time of year again that has found itself around again according to that Gregorian calendar on the wall. The end of summer and the beginning of the holy holiday season. And with that holy holiday season finds itself Halloween, All Saints Day, All Hallows Eve, The Day of the Dead, when the dead rise, a great excuse to dress however one wants and not care about it, or whatever one would want to call that scary, spooky, astrological, mystical, occult, witchcraft of a day. If only every day could be Halloween, maybe. And so with that holiday holidaying day seems to come a slew of Halloween events and parties and beyond to go along with it. And I have found myself blah blaghing about that holiday on this blog before in times past. And so some of those events to be found in that city of New York in this year of 2010 A.D. are as follows:

And so that NYC Village Halloween Parade is happening again this year. That seemingly end all to be all of parades to be found in that city of New York with seemingly a bazillion puppets, marching bands, dancers, performers and more. And all, or at least a lot of people, dressed up in those costumes Halloween style. And according to that Village Halloween Parade website, some of this years bands and performers include
Approaching Storm Marching Band, Aztec Marching Band, Baritone Army, Big Nazo, Bizango, Bloco Quimbombo, Caporales de San Simon, Central Park Dance Skaters Association,Chinatown Community Young Lions, Chinelos, Columbia University Marching Band, Dja Ra Ra, EnJ Productions, Escola de Samba BOOM, Extraordinary Rendition Band, Geday Brigade, Giglio Band, Golden Knights Drill Team, Gowanus Wildcats Drill Team, Higher Levin Steel Orchestra,Hungry March Band , Kalunga/Rasin San Bout , Lakou Band, Lubolos Macu, Madagascar Institute, Manhattan Samba, Maracatu New York, Mommy? (+ Klaus Nomi Army),New York Music in Motion Drum and Dance Corps, On the Lam Band, Princeton University Marching Band, Puppeteer’s Cooperative, PURE NYC, Radoes Steel Orchestra, Red Hook Ramblers, Samba New York!, Sugartone Brass Band, The Drunkard’s Wife, Top Hat Marching Orchestra, Tropical Pan Vibe – J’Ouvert, Underground Horns, Xtreme Kre8tionz ColorGuard & DrumLine, Zobop Rara and more.

And then there is also the Theater for the New City Village Halloween Costume Ball. And hey, didn’t that theater start or help found that NYC Village Halloween Parade years and decades ago somehow, I thought I heard someone say?

And then according to those emails, there’s also The Danger List, Your Halloween Weekend with:
You are invited to:
Within the Land of Ash : Saturday, October 30th
Details: WithinTheLandofAsh.com and
The Horror Show
Details: horror.

And this blah blaghers list is not even including those Jeff Stark nonsensenyc weekly events lists, or those millions of facebook event invites one can receive each day, or those Time Out New York Magazine events one can read.
And the halloween party event list is endless, maybe. And these Halloween events rock. Have a great Halloween day, night and more day.

A HONK! Festival 2010 Van Ride

And so it could have been a scene straight out out National Lampoon’s Vacation, that funny travel vacation movie that maybe isn’t so funny when it finds itself in real life, as I found myself with The Himalayas, that marching band group marching its way to the HONK! Festival 2010, that fifth annual festival of activist street bands that converged in Harvard and Davis Square in Somerville and Cambridge, Massachusetts, near Boston on October 8-10, 2010 the other day. And so again I found myself with the Himalayas at one of those All Car Rent A Car Brooklyn Car Rental places somewhere in the middle of Brooklyn to be found in that city of New York that is to be found in that country of America that is to be found in this world somewhere, waiting to take that rent a van to the HONK! Festival. And so I found myself waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting and waiting, and waiting, at that rent a van place that took an hour to open that took another hour for that van to be cleaned out, that took all of that rent a van payers money to fill up that empty tank of gas it came with that gave no discount or acknowledgement of the inconvenience of leaving two hours later than planned. And I guess it’s a good thing there were no planes to catch and only a gig to possibly miss from that rent a van that had some of those door latches missing and one of its wheels misaligned to where it became a shaking vibrationmobile whenever its wheels went over 60 miles per hour giving one images of ones life flashing before their very eyes the whole trip there and back, maybe. And I heard it said all because some other NYC car rental place was overbooked for the holidays. And so back to that Honk festival. And some of this years marching bands from around the country included AfroBrazil, AMP Radical Marching Band, Bahamas Junkanoo Jumpers, Barrage Band Orchestra, Black Bear Combo, Brass Liberation Orchestra, Bread and Puppet Circus Band, Detroit Party Marching Band, Dirty Water Brass Band, DJA-Rara, Emperor Norton’s Stationary Marching Band, Environmental Encroachment, Expandable Brass Band, Extraordinary Rendition Band, Factory Seconds, Himalayas, Leftist Marching Band, Minor Mishap Marching Band, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Second Line Social Aid & Pleasure Society Brass Band, Seed and Feed Marching Abominables, Springville All Star Marching Band, Veveritse, and What Cheer? Brigade and more. And that Honk Festival with the Himalayas and more rocked as in that YouTube video above. Have a great HONK Festival day.

A Facebook Event

And I know facebook is full of events because that facebook page I signed up for in my facebookaholicness says it’s full of events. And it seems to be full of events from other friends who are also signed up on that website. And it also seems as if there can be a million facebook events and more posted on that facebook page from facebook friends each day, as those number of facebook event invitations of you have such and such an amount of invitations to click on you will attend this event, you will not attend this event or you maybe will attend this event can go from 57 to 570 invitations in a matter of seemingly minutes, maybe. And these former blog entries from this blog that seem to find themselves repeating themselves over and over each year on this blog…..

It’s July 4th again. Another one of those national American patriotic holidays that is celebrated and observed only in America and nowhere else in the world. And what does the word “Patriotic” mean anyway? And for what reason does the word patriot have the word riot in it. And that “Parens Patriae” government as parent, father of a country sovereign guardianship of property thing, what’s that all about? That could be a whole another blog post of isms of some sort. And it’s that time of year again when the image of the American flag is worshiped and honored for whatever the reason may be and more patriotic songs are sung and more pledging of allegiance to the flags are pledged. Didn’t the flag waving just end last month with Memorial May, the other ultimate patriotic American holiday? And what is being celebrated this time? I can’t remember the meaning of July fourth. Doesn’t it have something to do with freedom or the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia? I am not sure if anyone is free when others are oppressed and civil liberties are disappearing at the speed of light in the name of “Security and terrorism” and now, the latest trend “Plots”. Although the showbusiness of fireworks for pyrotechnics of peace and war for this day can be really cool to look at and the rooftop parties can be fun. Again, I should consult Wikipedia, the ultimate internet bible to understand the meaning of this holiday. Happy July 4th, great travels, fireworks, barbecues, beachgoing and picnics.

And this one also…..

Plastic

Today is July 4th. The fourth of July. It’s a day when there will be lots of events, celebrations, parties, barbeque’s and outdoor activities going on. Have you ever thought about the amount of plastic that will be disposed of today in all of this activity? Have you taken time to think of where that plastic cup or bag goes when you throw it in the garbage. As most of the parties today will most likely not be contributing to the recycling program. There are countries in Europe that impose a plastic bag tax, PlasTax of .5 cents for every plastic bag you receive to discourage the frivolous use of plastic. Ireland has reduced their consumption of plastic bags by 90 percent as a result. As New York City is contemplating a plastic ban, the plastic pimper corporations are not. America is drowning in plastic. As I have mentioned before, the evils of plastic are many. It is a non biodegradable object fueling the petroleum oil industry. The health hazards of plastic are many. Greenhouse gas emissions have run amok. Drains are being clogged and drain flooding is increasing. The birds of the earth are dying and choking from it and people are suffocating from it. For what reason is not a more natural material and product being created to replace plastic? If you are at a party today, consider the environment. Consider reusing your cup or your bag today. Go Green. And what does this have to do with a No Police State? Happy July 4th.
