Hey bloggers, or whoever could be reading this blog, and in between reading those headline news headlines of the day which can sometimes be consuming, I find myself coming across one of those facebook posts in internetland that says Underground Horns is in a magazine. And I know some good friends Underground Horns are in New York Magazine because that Underground Horns facebook post titled something like “Check out this interview/article on the underground horns in New York Magazine! The article also features many other talented underground artists” says so. And so I find myself reading about Underground Gourmet and Welf Dorr’s Underground Horns in this months New York Magazine on this day. And Underground Horns will be playing at Nublu, that cool and beyond club and bar in that seemingly trendy of a neighborhood of the Lower East Side now called the East Village for real estate marketing purposes maybe to be found in that city of New York, on Mardi Gras day, March 8th, 11pm if you happen to be in the neighborhood. And Nublu Mardi Gras Rocks. Have a great music and more day.

Some Sign of the Times
And is this some sign of the New York real estate gentrify, gentrification, genocide, yuppie, young urban professional, poor run into the river times or something. And as I found myself riding another one of those New York Metro buses the other day going my way, I overheard some other passengers conversation about “My rent used to be 300, now that same apartment is 3,000”, or something to that effect. “And so what’s this conversation all about?”, I found myself asking that other rider passerby. And that conversation had something to do with the idea or fact that the New York City Housing Authority is privatizing its project Baruch Houses on Avenue Departments along the East River FDR Drive and turning them into condos for the rich, and there are, were signs on the door to prove it. The tenants have to move out. Hugh? How is that possible? And I thought I heard some proposal rumor or read some article maybe about this idea seemingly decades ago. And now it’s real? Huh? And does this reflect some trend across America, the world? Luxury resorts being converted into the projects, and projects being converted into luxury resorts. Is this urban sprawl or something. What’s that all about. Are the poor being run into the surrounding metro suburban areas of New Jersey, Connecticut and beyond from that Metropolis of that City of New York and other cities across the country and world in exile. Will Manhattan become an island for the rich only. Housing, shelter, that basic human necessity. Whose right is it to say the land is for sale anyway. And what, if anything, does this have to do with a No Police State.
Music Under New York
And so I guess the Metropolitan Transit Authority trauma drama with my friends really cool drum and horn band who play as part of the MTA Arts For Transit/Music Under New York Program usually starts out something like this: “Dear MUNY Musicians and Performers, the next Call-in will be another double, scheduling for 4 weeks. You did really well last time juggling and projecting your availability. Good luck and talk to you on September 26 or 27 @ Call-In etc.. And also Happy Birthday to Angel Marin of AGUA CLAA, and Natalia Paruz the Saw Lady on the 25th. All the best wishes, and life long happiness to you both!” And so the story goes; can somehow the Metropolitan Terrorize its subway riders Association change it procedures for the harassment of its subway musicians and riders. And it has happened again. Is it possible the New York City MTA can somehow make its fares free to ride the subway so that all of those underground polizei will not be necessary. This band has been keeping my blog busy with its subway gigs and the many times it has been shut down at the 42nd street Times Square subway station by the same polizei over and over with no end in sight. This time they were issued a summons for disorderly conduct, to appear in court five minutes after they started playing. And by the way, is it possible to have a close all courts day, month and year? Oh, that’s a whole another blog posting. And those prerecorded “If you see something, say something and all bags are subject to random bag searches” messages are a whole another blog posting also. I can cut and paste the the many times I have blah blogged about this topic before and you can read some of the posts here. How are other other subway systems in other cities and countries. Do all cities follow the same models and procedures for fares and entertainment. Is another world possible? Since when is art a crime and what does this have to do with a No Police State?
