Riseup

I’ve been receiving those New York City area protest calendar announcements in my email inbox from Todd Eaton every week or so for quite a while now. And I can not even remember how I even wound up subscribing to the list in the first place. And somehow I am a subscriber to this New York protest list that seems to be all protest all the time. I imagine if one wanted to be a 24 hour 365 day a year protester and attender of rallies, demonstrations and political events to help save the world, this list would be the list to consult, as it seems as if it has every single political cause, protest, event and party listed in the New York City area. And so I found this weeks calendar interesting to repost. And those links below are clickable in his emails, though I could not get them to be clickable in that sample protest calendar below. Have a great politicking day.

Mardi Gras

And today on this day I find myself wondering what topic to blah blog about in my internetaholic blogging in the blogosphere bloggerworld. And as usual I find myself wondering these days, how do all of those zillions of other bloggers in the bloggerworld find topics to write about on a daily basis or as often as one blogs. That how does one find content for ones website thing. And what’s the purpose of blogging again? TO rant and ramble away, to log ones diary or share ones thoughts or something. Well this web 2.0 user social media generated content thing still amazes me even to this day. And so the random thought for the day that comes to mind for this blog is that purple Mardi Gras cup I happen to be looking at at the moment. What can I say and write about Mardi Gras? Didn’t the party week just pass with the New Years and isn’t Mardi Gras approaching next month in February or something. More parties? And what does the word Mardi Gras mean anyway. The words sounds French maybe, like Gras grand, more of something. I wonder what that Internet bible dictionary Wikipedia would have to say about this word and holiday. And so this purple cup has written all over it, “Happy Mardi Gras” with images and drawings of clowns, pianos, music symbols, floats, confetti, revelers at a parade grand procession, that tragedy and comedy mask, horns, decks of cards, those Mardi Gras coins, the future dates of Mardi Gras all the way up until 2010 and just one big party scene. I guess these are some of the images of the Mardi Gras. And those Mardi Gras Marching bands from Louisiana rock.

The End Of The Year

It must be that end of the year time again according to the Gregorian calendar. And I also figure it must be near New Years Day 2008, as every time I turn on the television, listen to the radio or look at a newspaper, I see and hear all of those year end, year in review, best of 2007 articles and programing, and that Auld Lang Syne song gets played a thousand times. And I also see people selling those Happy New Year 2008 glasses, horns and confetti on street corners and sidewalks everywhere. And this time of year must also be the most partying day and night time of the year, and the most expensive time of the year to party in New York City also, as those clubland parties admission fees are usually in the hundreds and zillions of dollars range to party or something like that. Well I guess if one is in the New York City area, one could always go to see the ball drop in Time Square, that’s free as far as I know. Me myself, I don’t know what I will do for the New Years Eve celebrations this year, if anything. And I also thought it was the beginning of the end of the world this year in 2007 with all of those prophecy, armageddon, apocalyptic religious fanaticism thoughts about Nostradamus, World War III, the beast and the Anti Christ I posted this year about 2007 being the beginning of the end of the world. So unless some big momentous end of the world events happens in the next two days, happy 2008.
And here are some New Years Eve, New Years Day events in the New York City area that are listed on the nonsense nyc list for this week that look interesting and may be worth checking out:

The Poetry Project

Again it’s that time of year again according to the Gregorian calendar. The holiday seasons are upon us. The day of Christ is near and the party season of New Years is here. And a lot of parties there are indeed, as isn’t New Years Eve the biggest party day of the year. And then there is the day after New Years Eve in New York City. New Years Day. And one of the events that come to mind that day is the Annual News Year’s Day Marathon Reading over at St. Marks Church on the Bowery. It’s a poetry reading with seemingly over a million people reading poetry, poetry, and more poetry all day and nite and more. There is so much poetry read there that day that one could go home, cook a meal, go to sleep, wake up again, go back and they will still be there reading poetry. At least over that 24 hour period. So if you are in the New York City area and are looking for some great poetry to hear, this events looks like it may be worth checking out. Have a great poetry day.

Party Time

Hey Bloggers, I am not exactly sure for what reason I am reposting this event. Oh, that’s why, it’s less writing to post events sometimes. So this event arrived in my email inbox today and I think I even went to one of their rooftop parties some time ago. And this party is in Bushwick, that extension of East Village, Berlinsburg, Billyburg, Williamsburg and yet to be gentrified and genocided part of Brooklyn that reaches so far as the Jefferson avenue stop on the L train as far as I remember, with the exception of those lofts that are located there. New York City, it is ever changing. And I guess the only thing constant is change. So if you happen to be in this part of town, this may be a great event worth checking out. Have a great party day.

Trash Worship

And as I blah blog along in the blogosphere today despite that Google page rank update the other day that sent me to looking for a fourth day job, I find my self blah blogging about Rolando’s Trash Worship event that isn’t for another month according to the email he sent. And what does Trash Worship mean anyway, to worship trash? And I also find myself posting more and more events these days because hey, it’s less writing sometimes when I run out of things to blah blog about. And Rolando has been the Recycle and Pray, Trash Worship guy for as long as I can remember. He has some really cool artwork of recycled soda cans all over La Plaza Cultural Community Garden in the Lower East Side which is now called the East Village for real estate marketing purposes maybe. And from what I know, Rolando wants to save the world from trash, I think. The following is the email he sent for his event. Have a great art and recycle day.

Good News,

The first monthly meeting of TRASH WORSHIP SOCIETY is set for the first sunday of december. December 2nd. Save this date. An update will follow time and place and directions details.

With the coming of 2008, we plan to meet on the first sunday of every month.

Trash Worship was spawned in the year 2000. The approach to waste is spirited with the aim to elevate trash and trash pickers to a position of respect in society.

Matter, in this case WASTED MATTER becomes one with the human spirit allowing us to be redeemed as a wholesome unit again.

In the first gathering of september 2000, ANUKI, the protector of all insects revealed the third mystery, “TOKAGE” (STORAGE), to the attending Yanbukis.

A mythology about Trash has evolved in the past 7 years. A family of spirits, good vs. evil, angels vs. devils, much like established worships.

We have a PRAYER BOOK in continuos evolution with new TRASH SPIRITS and we have performed services, processions, ceremonies….e.g., THE MISSA PLASTIKON, TAERENWARE, THREE TRASH TREES HOLY DAY, etc…

This is a low tech non commercial site. It is based on Open Source and Copy Left Since in Trash we Trust and Waste is openly available to all of society
