Random Thoughts

Hey Bloggers, and this is one of those postings where I find myself rambling random thoughts just for the sake of attempting to maintain this blog with content whenever possible. And this days random thought I find scribbled on some paper somewhere are the words “legend of the dog”, which someone told me has something to do with being a wood flower or something and having to do with he bark that used to make the crucifixion of Christ. And what made this person refer those words legend of the dog to me I am not exactly sure, though I think it had something to do with what this piece of artwork reminded her of. And I would think Wikipedia, that internet dictionary would have and entry for that maybe. And so in my internetaholicness I’ll try and visit that website in internet land to see what this phrase could exactly mean one day or so maybe. Have a great legend of the dog day.

One Hundred Years Ago

And this is yet another one of those emails I received from one of those friends group email lists. And those emails that that friend sends are kind of funny and entertaining sometimes. And so I thought to post that email on this blog because hey, it’s less writing sometimes:

One hundred years ago.

Just imagine what the next 100 years will be like. Any guesses???

1909 Ford Model R

Show this to your friends, children and/or grandchildren

THE YEAR 1909

This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine!
The year is 1909.
One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1909 :

*********

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

fuel for this car was sold in drug stores only

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles

Of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower

The average wage in 1909 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year ..

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME .

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which

Were condemned in the press AND the government as ‘substandard.

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used

Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from

Entering their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars..

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea Hadn’t been invented yet.

There was no Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.

Two out of every 10 adults couldn’t read or write and

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school..

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores. Back then pharmacists said, ‘Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health’

( Shocking? DUH! )

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help..

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A.!

Plus one more sad thought; 95 percent of the taxes we have now did not exist in 1909

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.

IT STAGGERS THE MIND!

Have a great history day

Tofurky Soda

Tofurky Soda from IZEA! Now that’s an interesting title for an email I received in that email inbox today from IZEA, that attempt to get rich internet quick pay you to blog social media marketing company also known as Pay Per Post. And I have heard of Tofurky before, as in tofu turkey maybe. And aren’t they that company that makes all of those vegan and vegetarian fake meat products to be found in those health food stores and beyond. And Tofurky Rocks. Though Tofurky soda? What’s that all about? Soda that tastes like turkey? Hmmmm….. Is that somewhere along the lines of Silks pumpkin flavored soymilk or maybe something like hamburger flavored tea? And so this email went on to say, read, “Hey there! Are you interested in receiving a fun Thanksgiving package from IZEA?? If so, please send me back your complete mailing address so I can ensure you are included! You’ll even get to try your very own Tofurky Jones Flavored Soda!! And so I replied to that email in hopes of receiving that tofu turkey flavored soda in the mail one day. And so I gather by the approaching holiday of Thanksgiving, that it’s that time of year again, that time that eventually rolls around each year for those scheduled American holidays and beyond. And what better time to try a turkey flavored soda than Thanksgiving. Now that’s interesting. Remember the Indians, eat more tofurkey and have a great Tofurky Thanksgiving day.

conspiracy theories

The Van Allen Belt

The Van Allen Belt. That’s one of those topics that I found myself scribbling on some paper quite some time ago now where I thought to blah blog about at some point at a later date of when I find myself encountering one of those bloggers block pondering what to fill this blog with content sometimes in my attempt to maintain this blog whenever possible. And the Van Allen Belt is one of those topics. This term could be one of those conspiracy theories of a topic related to topics such as “Conspiracy theory, did we land on the moon?”, “The Van Allen Legacy”, “”The Van allen belt moon landing”, “The Van Allen Belt Conspiracy”, “The van allen radiation belt moon landing”, “The van allen radiation belt moon hoax”, “Man landing on the moon fake”, “Man landing on the moon hoax”, and a host of other titles this subject can go by. And so I found myself encountering this topic with a friend who mentioned how some man never landed on the moon decades ago. You know that “One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind thing…”. What? You mean I’ve been fooled by possibly the biggest George Orwellian brainwashing of Americans and the world fraud in history? The man on the moon was a fake? The 1969 Apollo moon landing was a hoax? Am I in outer space? How much fake patriotism encouragement can I take? And so this friend went on to say something about man can not survive past either the earth’s or the moons magnetic, solar or radiation field, and that all of those photos of man on the moon where photo shopped up in some hollywood studio, with phoney shadows and lighting effects or something like that. And this friend also went on to say something about how come man hasn’t flown to the moon since 1969 with the age of technology in these days and times. And how come there was no dust on the airplane, or spaceship that was used to fly to the moon when it returned to earth or landed on the moon or something like that. And how come there were no time delays in the radio broadcasts for that event. And something about this event was meant to boost patriotic moral and encouragement after the war during that time or something. And so this is a new one to me beyond comprehension. And if this possible conspiracy theory could be true, how come it is not mentioned in the media today. Is that bad for business and advertising? And what exactly is the Van Allen belt anyway? Does Wikipedia, that internet bible dictionary have an entry for this one. Does the internet have any discussions, discoveries, rants or raves about this topic. How long have I been in the dark? And now it seems as if the only discussion in the news concerning the moon is that NASA or man wants too use it as a crash target or something. And as far as I know, the moon hasn’t done anything to harm man, for what reason would man want to harm the moon by crashing things into it. Have a great possible phony man landing on the moon day.
