Summertime
And so it must be rolling up again at the end of spring and the
beginning of summer again this year as that Gregorian calender on the
wall and the weather outside here in that country of North America
could say so. And I also know it is summertime coming up because this
past weeks edition of the Village Voices
Summer Arts Guide 2009 says so. And every so often I find myself blah
blogging about events of this blog because hey, it's less writing
sometimes. And some of those on the music scene and be seen music
events and beyond that they have listed going on this summer seems to
be that annual River To River Festival
in that City of New York that's happening with it's opening date of
Memorial Day, May 31st, that's video, photo, festivals, music and more
with performers that include Bang on A Can Marathon, Conor Oberst, Arlo
Guthrie, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, New York City Opera, Brian
Stokes, Mitchell, Zvi Dance, Luminescent Orchestrii, Emmet Cohen Trio,
A Castle Clinton Tribute to Woodstock - Richie Havens, King Britt Sun
Ra Lectric:Saturn Never Sleeps, Miles Davie Electric Funk And Beyond
with Badal Roy, Michael Henderson, Kenny Wessell , Karsh Kale and
Timeline, Junior Mance and more as their list of performing artists
goes on.
And then there's the
Vision 14 Festival from Arts for Art, that who's on the jazz scene festival that seems to happen yearly. And this festival is happening this summer also at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in that City of New York with performers Marshall Allen and the Sun Ra Arkestra, Fred Anderson, Billy Bang, Rob Brown, Roy Campbell, Ernest Dawkins, Douglas Ewart, Charles Gayle, Peter Brotzmann Full Blast Trio, Ras Moshe, William Hooker, Jason Kao Hwang, Kidd Jordan, Joe McPhee, Milford Graves, Joe Morris, Sunny Mujrray, Zim Ngqawana, William Parker, Michelle Rosewoman, Matthew Ship, Lisa Sokolov and Butch Morris.
And there must be lots and lots of more seemingly endless events, happenings and beyond going on in this town because as far as I know, it's that city of New York, that city that never sleeps. Or does it. Have a great event day.
